  • Learn 10 at a time, then practice them inside short phrases.

Best practice: learn these words inside reusable “chunks” like:

  • אני (ani) — I
  • אתה (ata) — you (m)
  • את (at) — you (f)
  • הוא (hu) — he
  • היא (hi) — she
  • אנחנו (anachnu) — we
  • הם (hem) — they (m/mixed)

Tip: Don’t panic about gender early. You’ll pick it up through exposure.

These are the words that make sentences possible:

  • ו־ (ve-) — and (prefix)
  • גם (gam) — also
  • אבל (aval) — but
  • כי (ki) — because

  • מי (mi) — who
  • איפה (eifo) — where
  • מתי (matai) — when
  • למה (lama) — why
  • איך (eikh) — how
  • כמה (kama) — how much / how many
  • איזה / איזו (eize/eizo) — which (m/f)

Polite basics

  • שלום (shalom) — hello / peace
  • היי (hai) — hi
  • תודה (toda) — thank you
  • בבקשה (bevakasha) — please / you’re welcome
